The delegated confreres of the XI General Chapter arrived at the Shrine of Merciful Love since December 26, 2021. They represent the communities of Brazil, Bolivia, Spain, Philippines, Italy, India and Mexico.  The General Chapter was preceded by a time of listening and prayer, led by our Brother Most Reverend Bishop Cancian Domenico.  Some brothers, coming from non-European countries, were still in quarantine, so they followed the meditations online, from their room, at the “Casa del Pellegrino”.  Father Domenico urged us to discern in the spirit of synodality and with a prophetic character, for the good of the whole Family of Merciful Love.

On January 8 at 4.00 pm, singing the Veni Creator Spiritus we have invoked the gift of the Holy Spirit in the beginning of the chapter meeting.

After the appeal of the delegates and the initial formalities, we had the election of the offices and assignments necessary for the success of the assembly.

We thank the communities of the Brothers and Sisters of the Shrine of Merciful Love for the welcome they have given us.  From this place of grace, we clearly perceive how the whole Family of Merciful Love and many friends are accompanying us with their prayers.

We take this opportunity to inform you that yesterday, January 8, Mrs Josefina Mercado, mother of our Bolivian brother Fr.  Fermin SDFAM, passed away.

May the Merciful Love welcome her into eternal life and gives the consolation of faith to our brother and her family.

We remain united in prayer remembering Jesus’ baptism and ours.
